Learn to play a new instrument to enhance your musical abilities. If you already know how to play the guitar, why not try the banjo too? For a beginner, it is best to buy a banjo from a reputable dealer. You can also look for good banjo repairmen because they usually know of banjos that people want to sell because they want to move up to higher quality instrument.
There are two types of banjos:~The tenor has either 17 or 19 frets. It is best known for its ability as a rhythm instrument in Dixieland bands. It has a shorter neck and requires more use of the inside chords to reach all the melody notes.~The plectrum has 22 frets. It is the choice of many soloists. The longer neck allows for more notes to be reached on the first string.
